Petitions

petition is a request to do something, most commonly addressed to a government official or public entity. Petitions to a deity are a form of prayer called supplication. - Wikipedia

For the past few months, I have been asking the 6th and 5th grade students to sign the petition found here: http://beheardproject.com/saeed#sign,  to release our brother in Christ, Pastor Saeed, from prison in Iran for sharing the gospel. If your child has not shared this with you yet, I'd encourage you to go join the movement and sign the petition to help release our brother in bonds. Also, PLEASE pray for him and his family. They are separated for the 2nd holiday season now. Please share this petition with friends and family.

I think it's SUCH a God thing that in the midst of me sharing this petition with the students, the CCS history curriculum for 5th grade had the students write a petition themselves. How cool is that? This helped the students completely understand the importance of a petition and now they have plenty of experience with it!

Here are some pictures of the 5th graders reading and signing each others' petitions:

Philippians 4:4 - 7 "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to GodAnd the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Blessings!

  1. This is a very important lesson for them - and I love that they are READING the petitions - not just signing them! Jack and I had a great discussion about Pastor Saeed and he was surprised to find out that I had already signed the petition :-)
